Rungs
Terms
These terms are an agreement between you and Rungs ("we", "us") and cover the Rungs iPhone app and joinrungs.com. By applying to or using Rungs, you agree to them and to our Privacy Policy. If you don't agree, please don't use Rungs.
IWho can join
Rungs is for people aged 18 to 24. To apply, you must be within that range, able to form a binding contract, and not barred from using Rungs by law or by a previous removal. You may only have one account, and it must be in your own name with your own phone number.
IIApplications and admission
Membership is by application only. Applying doesn't guarantee admission, and we may admit or not admit anyone at our discretion, without giving reasons. While an application is pending, its status in the app stays "pending". You can delete your application and account at any time.
Everything in your application must be true and your own. Claims about your work, school or achievements must be accurate. Misrepresentation is grounds for removal at any time, including after admission.
IIIYour account
You sign in with your phone number and a code we text you. Keep your phone and codes secure. You're responsible for activity on your account. Tell us at help@joinrungs.com if you think someone else has accessed it. Standard carrier rates may apply to our texts.
IVReferrals
Members can refer people by entering their phone number. Only refer people you know who would want to hear about Rungs. A referral is noted on their application if they apply, but it doesn't guarantee admission. Don't use referrals to spam or harass anyone.
VHow to behave
Rungs works because members are who they say they are and treat each other well. You agree not to:
- Impersonate anyone, or use photos that aren't of you.
- Harass, threaten, demean or discriminate against anyone.
- Send sexual content, or use Rungs to solicit sex or romantic contact from people who haven't welcomed it.
- Sell, advertise, recruit for schemes, or solicit money or investment through unsolicited messages.
- Share another member's profile, messages or personal information outside Rungs without their permission.
- Scrape, copy or collect data from Rungs, or use bots or automated access.
- Interfere with, probe or reverse engineer the app or our systems, or get around any limit or block.
- Post anything illegal, or anything that infringes someone else's rights.
You can block or report any member in the app. We review reports and may act on them as we see fit.
VIYour content
You own what you post: your photos, answers, profile and messages. You give us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, store, display and process that content to run and improve Rungs, including showing your profile to other members. This licence ends when you delete the content or your account, except for copies we must keep as described in our Privacy Policy. You confirm that you have the rights to everything you post.
VIIOur content
The Rungs name, laurel mark, design and software belong to us. We give you a personal, non-transferable, revocable licence to use the app for its intended purpose. Please don't use our brand without permission.
VIIIMeeting people
Rungs introduces you to other members, but we don't run background checks and we can't vouch for anyone. You're responsible for your interactions, online and off. Use good judgement, especially before sharing personal details, moving money, or meeting in person, and report anything that concerns you.
IXSuspension and removal
We may suspend or remove any account, or decline any application, if we believe it breaks these terms, puts others at risk, or harms Rungs. You can leave whenever you like by deleting your account in the app under You.
XPrice
Rungs is currently free. If we introduce paid features, we'll show the price and terms before you buy, and purchases will be handled through the App Store.
XIChanges to Rungs and these terms
Rungs will change over time, and we may add, change or remove features. If we change these terms in a way that matters, we'll tell you in the app before the change takes effect. If you keep using Rungs after that, you accept the new terms.
XIIDisclaimers
Rungs is provided "as is" and "as available". To the extent the law allows, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. We don't promise that Rungs will be uninterrupted or error-free, or that any introduction will lead anywhere.
XIIILimitation of liability
To the extent the law allows, Rungs isn't liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost profits, data or opportunities, or for the conduct of any member. Our total liability for any claim relating to Rungs is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the past twelve months or US$100. Some places don't allow these limits, so they may not apply to you.
XIVIndemnity
If your use of Rungs or your breach of these terms leads to a claim against us, you agree to cover our reasonable losses and costs, to the extent the law allows.
XVDisputes
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of New York, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in New York County, New York, and you and Rungs consent to their jurisdiction. If you live outside the United States, you keep any rights that the consumer law of your country gives you.
XVIApple
These terms are between you and Rungs, not Apple. Apple isn't responsible for the app, its content, maintenance, support or any claims about it. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms and may enforce them. Your use of the app must also follow the App Store's terms.
XVIIGeneral
If any part of these terms can't be enforced, the rest still applies. If we don't enforce a term right away, we haven't waived it. You may not transfer these terms. We may transfer them to a successor. These terms and our Privacy Policy are the whole agreement between you and Rungs about the service.
